Welcome to storytime . . . here you will find stories of beginnings, sharing, exploring, suspense, comedy, mystery, and other emotional, artistic, and intellectually traversed subjects. Stories of times we remember, events, people, lessons, pains, and triumphs. I invite all Parkratz to contribute some of their own remembrances.
Totally Psychic (the tale)
When the psychic phase of the Parkratz was in its peak, I remember a very interesting day with Betty. We had both arrived at Parkratz Hill early one day. We spoke for a while, and somewhere in our conversation we mentioned the name of another Parkratz, Lil' Chris (or maybe it was someone else, unsure of which, but nonetheless . . .) . About 60 seconds after that Lil' Chris (or other Parkratz) actually appeared from an angle of the courtyard of the park we could not see.
Anyway Betty and I mentioned the coincedence of it briefly and went about other topics. But for the next couple of hours. Whenever some Parkratz name was mentioned they would appear within 5 minutes in the area. We were laughing at the absurdity of it all now, joking how we better be careful who's name we mention.
As the day continued towards the lunch hour, Betty at one point said that she wished she had some pizza. To our astonishment another Parkratz carrying a pizza arrive shortly. Now we were reaching the point of being flabergasted!
After eating a slice of pizza that was given to her, Betty mentioned that she still was hungery. It was a rare day when I had a little bit of money in my pocket, and so I voluntered to buy her something from the concession stand. I ask her what she would like to have.
She spoke quickly and said "An ice-cream cone . . . in a cup". I thought the statement strange and so I queried "IN A CUP?". She said "yes, because it is a hot day and if you have an ice cream in a cone then, the ice cream melts and drips across your hands eventually running down your arm and dripping on the ground." I laughed and agreed that there was a definite logic to the statement after all.
So we got up and began to walk towards the concession stand talking abuut general topics. The concession stand is not visible from Parkratz Hill, but rather is down past the edge of a building and past a large hedge tall enough to serve as a significant blind, and the path was through a set of building arches. The point is that as we were walking towards the stand, we could not visibly see the stand until after we rounded the tall bush past the building.
As we rounded the bush, we both stopped suddenly in our track, jaws falling open, and vaguely glancing back and forth between each other and the scene in front of us. We found ourselves looking a man who had purchase an ice cream cone and was in the process of eating it with ice cream, dripping across his hand, and making its way down the enire length of this guy's are and falling to the ground. Now we were BLOWN AWAY, laughed hysterically and had a most wonderful day laughing each time the image came back to mind. Michael T.
